Michael’s practice focuses on banking transactional matters, in which he regularly represents lenders and borrowers in syndicated and bilateral loan transactions, including green finance, property development and real estate finance, asset finance, acquisition finance, cross border financings and general credit facilities in domestic, PRC and overseas markets.

Michael also has experience in advising banks, financial institutions and money lenders in general banking matters, including compliance with Money Lenders Ordinance and Banking Ordinance and reviewing and updating of their standard form banking documents.

Prior to joining the firm, Michael had worked at the Hong Kong office of a major US law firm for over 16 years and was in charge of leading its Hong Kong general banking & finance practice.  Michael has consistently been recognised by leading legal directories for his work in the Hong Kong banking and finance sector, including being ranked as a “Next Generation Partner” in 2024-25 by Legal 500 Asia Pacific for the “Banking and Finance (Hong Kong)” sector, a “Band Lawyer” in 2025 by Chambers & Partners for the “Banking & Finance (Greater China Region)” sector and a “Highly Regarded Lawyer” in 2025 by IFLR1000 for the “Banking and Finance (Hong Kong)” sector.
