Career
Kelvin is a specialist in commercial, construction and engineering disputes in both civil litigation and international arbitration. Kelvin frequently acts for multinational corporations in international arbitrations seated locally and abroad in jurisdictions like Paris, India and Malaysia, to name a few. Kelvin is an Accredited Specialist in Building and Construction Law recognised by the Singapore Academy of Law. Kelvin is an empaneled arbitrator, adjudicator and mediator. He often hears cases involving construction payment disputes under the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act and has also sat as arbitrator on other technical matters.
With a prior degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering and a First Class Honors in Law, Kelvin brings a unique blend of practicality and expertise to the clients he services. Kelvin has advised and represented clients in multiple high value claims concerning the construction of coal fire power plants, hydro-electric power plants, hospitals, water treatment systems, desalination plants and other major civil infrastructure projects. Many such matters deal with complex issues of delay, acceleration and defect rectification.
Outside of construction and engineering, Kelvin has a thriving practice representing trusted clients in commercial litigation and arbitration matters such as disputes over the sale and purchase of commodities, JV-related disputes, directors’ duties, shareholder disputes and various property related issues.
Kelvin also acts for employers in various employment disputes and fraud/corruption investigations. He is experienced in dealing with high-profile white collar criminal matters and has offered training to clients on matters relating to investigations and dawn raids. In 2015, Kelvin was even selected as amicus curiae in a criminal matter concerning offences under the Securities and Futures Act (Cap 289) before a Court of three Judges.
