Career

Richard Idoine is a Senior Associate in Anthony Harper's Auckland dispute resolution team. He specialises in complex commercial litigation, with particular expertise in trusts, company, insolvency, asset recovery and cross-border disputes. He acts for corporates, insolvency practitioners, trustees, and high-net-worth individuals in some of New Zealand’s most significant and strategically important disputes.

Richard is recognised for his work on international disputes, sanctions, asset recovery, and enforcement matters. He has advised on proceedings across New Zealand, Australia, Samoa, the United Kingdom and Europe, including acting in the first successful challenge to a sanctions designation in New Zealand and one of the few successful challenges internationally. He has experience coordinating multi-jurisdictional litigation strategies and regularly works alongside leading King's Counsel on complex commercial disputes.

He also advises on competition and regulatory issues, providing strategic advice on regulatory risk, market dynamics and transaction structuring.

Richard is admitted to the Supreme Court of Samoa and takes instructions in that jurisdiction, extending the firm's reach across the Pacific.
