Grant has over 25 years legal experience and is widely regarded as one of New Zealand's finest health and safety lawyers, being sought out to assist in many of the highest profile workplace incident investigations in New Zealand. Grant is regularly instructed by public sector organisations and private businesses to advise on health and safety leadership, risk management, and compliance, and he also assists those clients and insurance companies and their insureds on incident investigations and dealings with WorkSafe New Zealand, the Police, and (in fatality cases) the Coroner.

Grant is the Deputy Chair of the New Zealand Institute of Safety Management Inc., and a member of the New Zealand Safety Council, the Australian Institute of Safety and Health and the United Kingdom's Institution of Occupational Safety and Health.
