Career

Dan is a commercial litigator with over 20 years' experience and leads the firm's litigation practice.

In dispute resolution, Dan has acted for listed companies, financial institutions, and large organisations across a broad range of complex commercial disputes, including construction litigation. He has appeared in courts at all levels in New Zealand, including the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal, and has been involved in proceedings in Australia and the United States.

In insolvency, Dan has built a track record in some of New Zealand's most significant restructuring and insolvency matters. His work has broken new ground for New Zealand law: he was the first to obtain recognition of a US bankruptcy in New Zealand, and has had New Zealand liquidators recognised and appointed in Australia. He has acted for liquidators, receivers, administrators, creditors, and banks in complex insolvency proceedings, including cross-border matters.
