Career
Paul Neufeld is a partner in Youssef + Partners. His practice is focused on international commercial arbitration, multi-jurisdiction litigation, and investment treaty claims in a wide range of industries including energy, oil & gas, and construction and infrastructure.
Paul J. Neufeld has represented clients in U.S., English and DIFC courts as well as in proceedings under all major arbitration rules (e.g., ICC, LCIA, ICSID, ICDR, SCC, DIAC, UNCITRAL) in both commercial and treaty arbitration cases, whether governed by civil, common, shariah or public international law.
In addition to trying cases and resolving disputes in industry sectors such oil and gas, desalination, and construction, Paul also advises on cross-border transactions and investments, particularly in the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America.
He is admitted in Texas, New York, England and Wales (Roll of solicitors), has full rights of audience in the DIFC Courts in Dubai, is a registered arbitrator with Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC) and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
Paul attended the Universität Leipzig in Germany with the support of the DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst) and received the Swiss Ambassador to Canada award for German language studies. While at The University of Texas School of Law, Paul was editor-in-chief of The Review of Litigation. He received the SSHRC (Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada) Fellowship for his Ph.D. at Brown University and previously taught at the University of Rhode Island and Providence College.
Paul currently teaches Advocacy in International Arbitration at the University of Houston Law Center and has published on topics in international arbitration and litigation, including “Saudi Arabia” for the Dispute Resolution Review. He is based in Houston, Texas.
