Shanika  joined Stowe Family Law as a Trainee Solicitor in October 2014 and qualified in December 2016. She was promoted to Senior Associate in October 2019 and became Team Leader Partner in December 2022.

She specialises in family law, focusing on divorce, unmarried partnerships, high-income financial disputes, and children matters, including relocation, grandparents’ rights, and cases involving children with disabilities. Shanika also advises military families and has expertise in LGBTQ+ family law, supporting clients on matters related to sexual orientation and gender.

Shanika is involved with the Junior Family Lawyers group and participates in the solicitors working group and D&I group at Stowe Family Law. Additionally, she serves on the West Yorkshire Family Justice Board, highlighting her commitment to improving family law practices.

Education

Shanika completed her undergraduate studies at Keele University in Staffordshire, followed by a distinction in her Legal Practice Course (LPC) at the University of Law, York. Before commencing her training contract at Stowe Family Law in October 2014, she gained valuable experience at a legal aid firm, which focused on domestic abuse and children’s issues.

In her spare time, Shanika enjoys exploring her passion for cooking, travelling to new destinations, and attending theatre performances. She values quality time with her family and friends, enriching her personal life outside her professional commitments.
