Career

Ben acts exclusively for claimants who have suffered life-changing injuries of the utmost severity, including neuro-trauma, fatalities, brain injuries, amputations, spinal cord injuries, disfiguring burns and other severe personal injuries.

Ben has a special interest in early rehabilitation and adapted accommodation issues for the seriously injured, particularly those with severe brain injuries, paraplegia or tetraplegia, and on behalf of his clients pursues insurers for initial compensation payments from the outset to establish effective care and therapy regimes, and to secure appropriate housing.

He regularly contributes to the national media on issues concerning health and safety, corporate or gross negligence manslaughter, and the calculation of compensation awards for catastrophic injuries. He has written for The Times, various legal journals, and appeared on the BBC. In recent years he has been quoted in a range of diverse publications including the Evening Standard, Mail, The Times, Mirror and the New York Post, along with legal publications such as Legal Futures, the Law Society Gazette and the Solicitors Journal.

Admitted 2002. Joined Lyons Davidson 2002-06, became head of technical claims unit. 2006-08, Shoosmiths. Joined Stewarts Law 2008-10 exclusively handling very high-value brain and spinal cord injury claims. Joined Prolegal 2010 as head of complex litigation, and Osbornes in May 2013.

Memberships

Ben is an accredited Fellow of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL). Ben is accredited by APIL as an advanced specialist in the fields of brain injury and fatal accidents and is an assessor for APIL’s accreditation schemes in these specialisms. For ten years he was also Secretary of APIL’s National Damages Special Interest Group.

Leisure

Away from the office, Ben enjoys spending time with his young family and supporting his village cricket club.
