Position

Olivia is a Solicitor in the purpose and impact team of the Charity and Social Enterprise department at Bates Wells. Her clients include charities, corporate and family foundations, not-for-profits and purpose-driven businesses.

Olivia advises on a range of legal issues including structuring, charity registration, incorporation, safeguarding, governance, grant-making, charity conversions and general charity and commercial law matters. This can include working with directors at the initial incorporation stage to support them on choosing the right structure, followed by ensuring they have a strong framework and relationship in place to manage the organisation’s relationship with related entities and its policies up to the operational side of the entity and winding-down.

Recent examples of her work include supporting the Royal Institute of British Architects with a detailed review of its structure and both its UK and overseas governance arrangements; and providing extensive advice to Eclipse Theatre on its wind down and related stakeholder agreements.
