Joe joined Myerson in 2024, bringing with him significant experience in all areas of family law. Joe is particularly sought after for his work in high-net worth financial remedy cases. Joe’s work in this area often involves business assets, trusts, pensions and international considerations. Joe simultaneously enjoys a strong reputation for children law, advising on intricate arrangements including application for internal and international relocation.

Joe frequently advises high-profile individuals and professionals, maintaining a discreet and strategic approach to protecting clients’ privacy including frequently advocating for the use of non-court dispute resolution.

Joe is widely recognised for his commercial insight, discretion and emotionally intelligent approach to what are often deeply personal issues. He tailors his advice to each client’s unique needs, combining clear legal guidance with a sensitive understanding of complex family dynamics.

In 2024, Joe was shortlisted for Lawyer of the Year at the Made in Manchester Awards, a testament to his exceptional legal skill and growing recognition in the field.

An active voice in the legal community, Joe regularly contributes expert commentary to leading legal publications including Family Law Week and HNW Divorce Magazine. He also shares family law insights via his legal Instagram platform, @JoeFergusonSolicitor, making legal concepts accessible to a wider audience and providing a friendly face to family law issues. Joe is also a host of MyFamilyPod, Myerson’s family law podcast.

He is a committed member of Resolution, advocating for constructive and child-focused approaches to family disputes, aiming to resolve disputes amicably where possible.  Joe has also been appointed to the Publications Committee for Resolution, the only solicitor on the committee who practices in the North of England.

When Joe is not working, he plays an active role in Manchester’s professional community as part of Manchester Young Professionals’ committee, organising networking events for business professionals throughout Greater Manchester. Joe also sits on the committee of YRes Manchester, the regional division of the foremost networking organisation for junior family lawyers.
