For more than 30 years, he has been dedicated to the practice of Environmental Law, serving as the Founder and Director of the first Environmental Law specialization program in Colombia (Universidad INCCA, 1993), as well as the editor and compiler of the first compendium of environmental regulations in Colombia (Régimen Legal del Medio Ambiente, LEGIS Editores, 1997). He has also accumulated extensive teaching experience since 1993, particularly in the Environmental Law postgraduate programs at Universidad del Rosario in Bogotá and Universidad del Norte in Barranquilla, among others. In 2010 he founded Alvarez Abogados Ambientales S.A.S BIC.
