Caner is Senior Counsel at Igniters Tech Law, admitted to both the New York and Istanbul Bar Associations, a dual qualification that makes him a uniquely valuable resource for clients navigating transactions and regulatory matters across U.S. and Turkish jurisdictions. He graduated with honors from Istanbul University Faculty of Law and earned his LL.M. from Emory University School of Law in the USA, also with honors, where he was further recognized with a pro bono publico medal for his commitment to volunteer legal work.
Before joining Igniters, Caner built his practice at several prominent international law firms working on high value transactions. He also brings valuable in-house perspective from his time at Marsh McLennan, where he worked closely with legal teams in New York and London an experience that sharpened his ability to think like a client and deliver counsel that is as commercially practical as it is legally sound.
Caner's practice spans corporate governance, startup law, venture financing, banking and finance, capital markets, digital platform regulation, and cross-border transactions. Over the course of his career, he has worked on some of the most high-profile deals in the Turkish market and beyond. His transactional track record includes public offerings in Turkiye and New York Stock Exchange. His M&A experience spans the energy, gaming, banking, investment, and financial services sectors, representing both domestic and foreign parties in complex cross-border deals. One of the landmark deals he has advised on is Peak Games’ 1.8 Billion Dollar acquisition by Zynga. On the financing side, he has worked with some of the most consequential names in Turkish and global finance, including Koç Holding, Sabancı Holding, İş Bankası, Turkven, ÜNLÜ, JP Morgan, and HSBC. His fintech practice includes ongoing counsel to Figopara, Visa, and Mastercard.
Caner's commitment to staying at the forefront of his field extends well beyond client work. He was selected for Cohort 15 of VC University, a prestigious program organized by Berkeley Law School and the National Venture Capital Association, where he deepened his understanding of venture capital from both legal and commercial vantage points. He has also completed finance coursework through Yale, Duke, and Rice, reflecting an intellectual rigor and curiosity that set him apart.

Personal
What also sets Caner apart is where he started. During his student years, he worked as a lifeguard, waiter, barista, bartender, cashier, and tour guide, experiences he credits, alongside earning his own income from an early age, with shaping the work ethic and character he brings to everything he does today. He is the co-founder of an award-winning social responsibility project, an avid photographer, and a seasoned traveler. That said, Istanbul remains his favorite city in the World and he will never miss a good festival there.
