Career
Hatice is a Partner at Igniters Tech Law, where she leads the firm's Turkish and MENA practice. Her legal career is a testament to both exceptional talent and early dedication, she enrolled at Marmara University Faculty of Law in 2006 at the age of fifteen, and by the time she graduated in 2010 and registered with the Istanbul Bar Association, she had already distinguished herself as one of the most promising legal minds of her generation.
Before joining Igniters, Hatice built a well-rounded and substantive practice spanning dispute resolution, corporate transactions, regulatory compliance, and data privacy. She served as lead counsel in two international arbitration proceedings, one involving an insurance dispute for a state-owned insured and another arising from a complex shareholder dispute, and represented the Social Security Institution in social insurance matters. On the transactional side, she has advised on M&A deals and counseled companies handling sensitive personal data on privacy and regulatory compliance. Her client base spanned both the public and private sectors, giving her a breadth of perspective that is rare at any stage of a legal career.
At Igniters, Hatice brings that depth of experience directly to bear on the needs of technology companies and their investors. She represents investment funds and startups across the full investment lifecycle from term sheet negotiations and legal due diligence through transaction documentation and closing. She also advises on technology-specific contracts, including SaaS agreements and terms of use, and is a trusted resource for companies navigating the increasingly complex landscape of data protection law, helping them develop privacy policies and build out compliance frameworks that are both legally sound and operationally practical.
Her academic record is equally impressive. While still a law student, she competed in the 2009 Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, where her team won the national round and she earned the best oralist award going on to represent both her university and Türkiye in the international rounds in Washington, D.C. The following year, she represented her university at the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna. Prior to graduation, she completed internships at multiple law firms and served as a parliamentary consultant a remarkably diverse foundation for a career that was just getting started.
