Career

Prof. Abdullah Al-Hayyan is a Partner at ILG with 29 years of experience in local and international trade law, corporate and commercial transactions, Islamic finance, and sports law. He is recognised for his expertise in legislative reform and advising on complex commercial and financial matters.

At ILG, he leads on matters related to the New Commercial Companies Law, Bankruptcy Law, Public-Private Partnerships Law, and Small and Medium Enterprises Law, providing strategic counsel to clients navigating Kuwait’s evolving legal framework.

In sports law, Prof. Al-Hayyan holds prominent leadership roles, including Chair of FINA, ANOC, and the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), and has contributed to drafting sports regulations in the Gulf region. He has also taught law at Kuwait University and the Gulf University for Science and Technology and served as legal advisor to the Kuwait Investment Authority, influencing both national legislation and international sports governance.
