Career
Dr. Adel Al-Tabtabaei is a leading legal scholar in the Arab world with over 40 years of expertise in constitutional and administrative law. Since 1985, he has served as Professor of Constitutional Law at Kuwait University, where he also held the positions of Assistant Dean and Dean of the Faculty of Law.
Dr. Al-Tabtabaei has held key governmental roles, including Minister of Higher Education and Head of the Technical Office at the Ministry of Justice, where he led committees drafting the Military Prosecution Law, Intellectual Property Law, and legislative requirements for Kuwait’s 2010–2014 Development Plan. He has also advised the Amiri Diwan and major institutions such as Zain Telecom, KPC, and PIC on complex legal reforms and cross-border projects.
Internationally, he has contributed to constitutional reforms in the Gulf, including amendments to Qatar’s Constitution. Author of 13 books and over 40 research papers, he currently serves as Partner and Chairman of ILG, shaping Gulf constitutionalism through scholarship, legislation, and practice.
