Career
Mohammed Saleh Al-Muhanna is a senior Iraqi legal professional and prominent figure in the legal and human rights sector. He holds a Ph.D. in Private Law (Civil Law) and has extensive academic and professional credentials, including a Master’s degree and multiple specialized certifications. He currently serves as Head of the Iraqi Bar Association, Head of Al-Muhanna Center for Advocacy and Legal Consultations, and Managing Director of Al-Waqif Company for the Promotion of Human Rights and Freedoms. He is also an active member of several legal and human rights organizations.
Throughout his career, Al-Muhanna has demonstrated strong leadership and reform-oriented initiatives. He was elected by Najaf lawyers with overwhelming support and played a key role in strengthening the legal profession’s standing, including negotiating a landmark agreement with the Najaf Police Command to safeguard lawyers’ rights. He has organized numerous conferences and seminars promoting legal awareness and national unity, including efforts to counter sectarianism.
His achievements include launching large-scale initiatives such as establishing the first residential district for lawyers in Iraq, facilitating access to higher education opportunities, and supporting lawyers through financial and professional development programs. He has also contributed to legislative reform, including challenging unconstitutional legal provisions and supporting their repeal through parliamentary action.
In addition to his professional work, Al-Muhanna is an author of legal publications, focusing on civil liability and comparative legal studies. His career reflects a strong commitment to legal integrity, institutional reform, and the advancement of human rights in Iraq.
