Position

Gillian is a Senior Consultant who advises on all areas of domestic and international family law and has gained  an extensive domestic, and international, practice.  She believes in trying to achieve an outcome that is in the best interests of the client.  She is tough and skilled negotiator who works tirelessly to support her clients.

She has been a member of Resolution for three decades.

Gillian has a bias towards the financial aspects of relationship breakdown and regularly deals with highly complex, high-net-worth financial claims. She is also very experienced in private law children disputes and financial applications by a single parent on behalf of a child. Reported cases, include  Re Y (A Child) (Private Law: Interim Change of Residence) [2014] EWHC 1068 (Fam). Baker v Baker (2023) EWFC 136.

Gillian is a respected author and has written for publications such as the ‘Law Society Gazette’ and co-authored on ‘Clarke, Hall and Morrison on Children’. She is often quoted in print media and has broadcast on national radio.

Gillian is an experienced law lecturer having taught, part-time, at colleges in Kingston, Farnborough, and Guildford.

Gillian is the co-chair/author of the IBA Human Trafficking Task Force Report and helped to arrange  judicial and police training in relation to the Modern Slavery Act 2015. She was panel advisor to two anti-slavery commissioners and is trustee to The Clewer Initiative and a member of the Surrey Against Slavery Partnership.  Gillian founded, and ran, a charity set up to protect the vulnerable, and is an Ambassador to The Passage, for whom she has co-founded and chairs their new Women`s Philanthropy Group.

Gillian was the Chair to the Family Law Committee of the International Bar Association (IBA) for four years and has been an officer since 2007. She is also a Fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers (IAFL).

In 2016, Gillian was granted Freedom of the City of London and became a Liveryman in The City of London Solicitors' Company.
