Position
Consultant Solicitor – Senior Child & Family Law Specialist
Career
Primrose was called to the Bar in 1976 but stepped back from practice to raise her four sons. She later qualified as a solicitor in 1989 and chose family law, drawing on her perspective as a wife and mother. She has been in continuous employment since 1989 and self-employed for the last 14 years as a consultant/locum.
Throughout her career, Primrose has practised predominantly in and around London. She also sat as a Justice of the Peace (JP) for 35 years — an experience she says means "nothing can shock me, and my clients can tell me nothing that will shock me."
Her approach is sympathetic but robust when necessary. She considers her greatest outcome to be when clients leave the process genuinely satisfied at the end of proceedings.
In the 1990s, Primrose represented an Asian mother seeking a divorce. Shortly afterwards, the client was taken to India by her mother-in-law and was killed, though her body was never found. The case proceeded to the Old Bailey in 2000, resulting in the ex-husband receiving 27 years' imprisonment and the mother-in-law 20 years. Primrose cites this as the matter she is most proud of, not for the outcome in legal terms, but for having stood with a vulnerable client in impossible circumstances.
Primrose regularly acts for clients in divorce and children arrangements cases, typically involving mid-range financial assets. She also advises on:
