Mert Karamustafaoğlu is Partner and Senior Associate of GLED Partners Law Office. He has more than 25 years of experience in competition Law, energy law and personal data protection.

 He specializes in competition law, particularly focusing on competition compliance programs, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, privatization transactions, investigations, and the application of competition law within the energy sector.

Having spent 15 years of his career at the Turkish Competition Authority as a Specialist, Assistant Specialist, and Chief Specialist, he has played an active role in various competition law inquiries. His extensive experience includes:

Privatizations in the electricity, fuel, natural gas, and mining sectors and competition infringement investigations in the pharmaceutical, cement, ceramics, and cinema industries, as well as public tenders.

In addition to his investigative work, he has been deeply involved in legislative developments and educational activities at the Competition Authority. This includes drafting secondary legislation on competition law, conducting in-service training, and managing certified internship programs.

He has highly strong academic background. He graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Law and holds an LL.M. degree in Private Law from Freie Universität Berlin. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Private Law at Istanbul Medeniyet University. Additionally, he completed the Mini MBA program in Energy Efficiency at the Istanbul Chamber of Industry and serves as an instructor for the Competition Law Certificate Program at Istanbul Bilgi University.
