Career

Greg Allen is an experienced trial and appellate litigator who routinely appears as counsel at all levels of court in British Columbia and the Supreme Court of Canada. He has a diverse civil and commercial litigation practice, with expertise in shareholders remedies, municipal law, defamation, and administrative law. He represents a diverse roster of clients, ranging from large public companies to individuals.

Greg has a particular specialty in appellate advocacy. He has made 10 appearances at the Supreme Court of Canada, including eight as lead counsel. He was lead counsel for the City of Nelson in Nelson (City) v Marchi, 2021 SCC 41, which is the leading case on public authority tort immunity in Canada.

Before founding Allen / McMillan Litigation Counsel in 2018, Greg clerked at the British Columbia Court of Appeal and spent eight years practising at Hunter Litigation Chambers.

Greg has published on a wide range of topics. He is a regular presenter at continuing legal education seminars and dedicates much of his time to mentoring younger lawyers.

Greg is a regular volunteer for Access Pro Bono’s Court of Appeal roster program, and presently sits as the Law Society’s nominee on the Hamber Foundation Board of Governors.
