Career

Alonso De La Pava Vélez is a founding partner of FDP Legal and leads the firm's Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice. With over 15 years of experience in public procurement, administrative law, infrastructure and mobility projects, and complex dispute resolution, he represents clients in high-impact proceedings before administrative courts, arbitration tribunals, and other alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.

He has acted as counsel in numerous proceedings involving public and private contracts, advising companies across regulated sectors on legal strategy in their dealings with state entities. His practice includes participation in dispute boards oriented toward the early resolution of conflicts in infrastructure projects.

In 2026, he was appointed to the national arbitrators list of the Arbitration and Conciliation Center of the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce (2026–2029), in the specialties of Public Infrastructure and Civil, Construction and Private Engineering — one of the most selective arbitration panels in Colombia. He is also a member of the arbitration panels of the Colombian Society of Engineers and the Chamber of Commerce of Cúcuta.

In 2023, he was recognized by Leaders League for his expertise in civil, commercial, and arbitration litigation. He is a guest lecturer at Colombian universities on public contracts and dispute resolution mechanisms.

Alonso is driven by a long-term commitment to the legal profession that extends beyond practice. He aspires to contribute to the judiciary and to legal education, with a particular interest in mentoring the next generation of lawyers in public law and dispute resolution. He believes that transferring knowledge and experience is as important as winning cases.

Leisure

Alonso is a committed triathlete. He has completed a full IRONMAN, two IRONMAN 70.3 events, and two full marathons.
