Matteo is an attorney qualified for the Higher Courts and Associate Professor at the University of Macerata, where he teaches Environmental Law in English. He has more than twenty years of academic, institutional and professional experience, including at international level, in environmental law and compliance. He has been Visiting Faculty at Columbia Law School of New York since 1999 and at the School of Law of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) for several years. He is the author of numerous scientific publications, including books, papers, essays and articles. He has also been legal consultant to the Italian Senate since 2006, in particular for the IX and XIII Commissions.

Matteo has specific knowledge and expertise in environmental law, with particular focus on waste management, remediation procedures, environmental permitting, environmental damage and disputes concerning historical pollution. He advises multinational companies and leading domestic clients operating in highly regulated sectors, including the consumer goods, energy, pharmaceutical and technology industries.

He also assists clients in environmental risk audits and due diligence in connection with corporate acquisitions and investments, and provides legal support in litigation and regulatory matters involving industrial activities, public services and environmental compliance. His practice combines advisory and contentious work, with experience spanning administrative, civil and regulatory profiles.
