Richard has extensive experience advising on competition and consumer law. He brings 20 years of expertise across merger clearances, strategic advisory work, and supporting clients through complex regulatory and transactional environments.

He brings deep expertise in guiding transactions through the ACCC merger clearance and authorisation processes, leveraging a strong understanding of the ACCC’s approach and market dynamics to deliver practical, outcome-focused results aligned with clients’ business objectives.

Richard’s recent competition and regulatory experience includes advising:

Richard’s recent transactions experience includes advising:

Chemist Warehouse on its acquisition by Sigma Healthcare; Origin Energy on its proposed acquisition by Brookfield Infrastructure and its consortium partners; RACWA on the proposed acquisition of its insurance business by IAG; and BGC on the acquisition of its cementitious business by Cement Australia, Holcim, HMI and Adbri.

Richard holds first class honours degrees in both law and economics from Victoria University of Wellington, as well as a master of laws from the University of Chicago.
