Michael is a commercial transactions lawyer who advises large private businesses, corporates and high-net-worth individuals on a broad range of commercial matters including acquisitions and disposals, financing arrangements and property transactions.
Michael’s practice focuses on private mergers and acquisitions, acquisition finance, deal and private group structuring, and major property transactions.
A distinguishing feature of Michael’s practice is his deep experience across these complementary areas. This experience provides Michael with a unique skillset that is greater than the sum of its parts, allowing Michael to bring a broadened perspective to his practice and to be a trusted advisor for his key clients.
Michael acts for clients across a range of industries. Michael has particular experience advising tourism and hospitality businesses, manufacturing and industrial companies, and infrastructure-related businesses.
Michael is also a qualified accountant. This background provides him with a strong understanding of financial and capital structures, allowing him to approach transactions through both a legal and commercial lens.

Lai Group, one of Australia’s largest electrical switchboard manufacturers, as a key trusted advisor for over a decade. Michael advises the group and its owners on all business related affairs, including on acquisitions, structuring matters, and senior finance negotiations. Iarriccio Property Group on a range of property acquisitions, divestments and developments, including a number of significant acquisitions of industrial and residential development sites across South Australia, Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales. On complex mergers, including the mergers of: the HiDrive and Sureweld businesses, to create one of Australia’s largest service bodies and canopy manufacturers; and Remax Doors Carona Group, to form one of Australia’s largest door manufacturers for temperature controlled environments.. Journey Beyond on a number of transactions including the acquisition of Sailaway Port Douglas, Ningaloo Whalesharks and Vintage Railways tourism businesses, and acting for Journey Beyond in respect of their investment in the Monarto Safari Park resort. Kelsian Group Limited (ASX: KLS) on a range of senior finance arrangements including: the negotiation and management of their club facility arrangements to refinance the group and to acquire the Transit Systems group, one of Australia’s largest bus operators; and the establishment of bespoke ring-fenced financing arrangements with senior financiers and Transport NSW to finance Transit Systems’ NSW bus fleet; Waveconn on a range of acquisition finance matters including on the acquisition of American Tower as well as acquisition of approximately 340 mobile tower and rooftop sites from Optus; ROC Partners on a number of transactions, including a $192 million syndicated facility supporting a contested public takeover and on the acquisition of Pace Farms, Australia’s second largest egg producer; and SC Capital Partners on multiple transactions, including its investment into and exit from the Aura Holdings Group, one of Queensland’s largest retirement village developers and operators.Languages
