Career

Her professional practice is primarily focused on criminal and constitutional law. She has represented and defended clients in complex criminal proceedings with significant social impact, including matters involving environmental, tax, and economic crimes. In constitutional law, she regularly develops strategies and legal “engineering” to provide viable and appropriate solutions in cases within the field. For several years (2012–2018), she worked in the Judicial Branch, first as a Court Marshal and later as a Court Officer at the Fifth Court of First Instance for Criminal Matters, Drug Trafficking, and Crimes Against the Environment. In 2023, she played an instrumental role in the country’s first conviction for the crime of violation of sexual intimacy.

Vivian has more than 9 years of experience as a litigation attorney.

She has been an active member of the Guatemalan Bar Association (Colegio de Abogados y Notarios de Guatemala) since 2018.

Education

Vivian Díaz graduated from the Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala in 2017 with a law degree. She has also completed the coursework for a Master’s degree in Constitutional Law at the same institution.
