Career

Andrea is a distinguished specialist in strategic litigation. Her practice is characterized by providing clients with precise, analytical, and strategic solutions, thereby optimizing the client’s resources. Her advice, in addition to being holistic, has been crucial in high-profile and time-sensitive cases in Guatemala and the region. Throughout her career, she has served as lead counsel in complex criminal proceedings, ranging from fraud and economic crimes to environmental pollution, tax offenses, and intellectual property matters. She also provides ongoing counsel to leading hospitals in Guatemala City, as well as to major banking institutions within Guatemala’s financial system. In addition, Andrea maintains a successful commercial law practice. She currently advises companies across various sectors, including energy, real estate, and commercial enterprises, both in structuring complex negotiations and in reviewing and drafting commercial contracts. Her criminal law experience enables her to assess commercial risks with more depth and, as a result, to anticipate and propose appropriate and effective legal solutions for the clients she advises.

In addition to her legal practice, Andrea served as an assistant professor in Criminal Procedure Law and Crimes Related to Public Office at the Faculty of Law of Universidad Francisco Marroquín, contributing to the academic development of future legal professionals.

Education

Andrea graduated from Universidad Francisco Marroquín (2013). She holds a master’s degree in business law from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (2014), a postgraduate diploma in Criminal Law from Universidad del Istmo (2017), and a master’s degree in Economic Criminal Law from Universidad Internacional de La Rioja (2020).
