Etienne Papin has been a renowned digital and creative law specialist in France for over 25 years. He practices in both advisory and litigation matters. He is a co-founding partner of NEXT avocats.

Etienne Papin assists his clients in all digital law aspects: on-line retail, social networks, market places, cloud computing, dematerialization, etc.

He also has a significant experience in assisting live show and music firms.

His daily practice is dealing with the constant change of company’s needs, regulations in force and legal solutions to bring. His objective: always provide his clients with customized and relevant solutions.

Career

Etienne Papin was admitted to Paris Bar in 1999. He practiced at the international law firm, Salans, then at a French independent law firm as a partner since 2009, before founding NEXT avocats in 2020 with Stéphanie Foulgoc.

Since 2023, he has been teaching copyright and entertainment law at the EMIC (Management school for cultural industries). From 2019 to 2023, Etienne Papin was also senior lecturer in copyright law at Audencia Business School one of the Top 10 business schools in France and at ICART School (art and management school).

Etienne Papin is a member of ITechLaw Association and of the legal committee of the French professional federation bringing together stakeholders in the influencer industry "Union des Métiers de l’Influence et des Créateurs de Contenu" (UMICC).

He is also member of the France–Canada Chamber of Commerce.

He is a founding member of EuropaNum.

Education

In 1995, Etienne Papin graduated with a post graduate degree in literary, artistic and industrial law (DEA) (Paris II Panthéon-Assas University with Professor Pierre-Yves Gautier as director), and in 1996 with a company lawyer diploma (DJCE), Major in distribution law (Cergy-Pontoise University).
