Career

Matyáš Kužela heads the firm's Competition & Foreign Trade practice. He advises clients on Czech and international transactions subject to regulatory merger clearance, represents clients before the competition authorities in cartel investigations, and helps clients with a strong market position comply with competition law requirements, including the Act on Significant Market Power. He assesses contracts and negotiations with customers, suppliers and competitors from a competition perspective and helps companies protect themselves against unfair conduct by competitors.

Matyáš Kužela also focuses on data protection and privacy, competition law, M&A and IT/IP law. He advises banks, international organisations and e-commerce businesses on data processing and privacy, and represents clients in disputes over database exploitation as well as on significant IT implementation projects in the public and private sectors. He is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), the world's largest information privacy organisation, and is known for incorporating technology into legal solutions.

Matyáš Kužela co-heads the Corporate and M&A practice and combines transactional work with deep expertise in competition law, data protection and intellectual property. On the M&A side, he advises Czech and international clients on transactions subject to regulatory merger clearance and leads deal teams on complex cross-border acquisitions – over the past 12 months, most notably as lead partner on the approx. USD 52m acquisition of a Prague real estate holding company from a Cypriot seller, including the related acquisition financing.
