Career

Ioanna Michalopoulou is a corporate lawyer specializing in life sciences, medical technology and healthcare law. Her practice focuses on advising international and Greek clients operating in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical devices, food and veterinary sectors on complex regulatory and corporate matters.

She advises and represents major foreign and domestic companies on cross-border transactions, distribution and agency agreements, intellectual property and data protection matters, as well as clinical trials, public procurement and corporate governance issues. Ioanna has extensive experience in regulatory frameworks affecting the life sciences sector, including medical devices regulations (MDR/IVDR), orphan drugs, gene therapies and pharmaceutical cannabis products. She also advises clients on compliance programs and global governance frameworks, including reporting obligations to international stock exchanges and sustainability standards.

She has extensive participation in international legal and healthcare innovation fora as well as significant academic writing contributions and speaking engagements on digital health, AI and regulatory governance.

Prior to her Managing Partner role, she served as European Legal Counsel (EMEA) at Tyco International and as Legal Counsel at Intrasoft International in the Benelux region, where she gained extensive experience in international corporate environments and cross-border transactions. Earlier in her career she held legal positions at the European Commission and the European Parliament.

Ioanna advises multinational corporations and organizations on regulatory compliance, corporate transactions and business development strategies within the EU life sciences and technology landscape.

She regularly represents clients before EOF, Ministry of Health, EOPYY and the Council of State. Currently serves as Vice President to the BioInnovation Greece Board of Directors and is an active member of organizations and initiatives related to biotechnology and artificial intelligence, while up until recently has been serving on the Life Sciences Committee of the International Bar Association.
