I am a partner in the Corporate team at Michelmores and I head the corporate tax team. For more than 25 years, I have been advising on tax since I qualified as a lawyer in South Africa, having developed a deep interest for the subject at university. I went on to complete an LLM in tax law. It is a dynamic area of law which is constantly changing and adapting as progress and new developments take hold in the business world. I left practice for a time to run a business and I bring that experience to my practice now. Busy people need pragmatic solutions that are forward-looking and my tax advisory practice is aimed at achieving this outcome for clients. I advise a wide range of clients (start-ups to established corporates) on tax matters impacting most aspects of their business including:

• corporate mergers and acquisitions

• reorganisations

• business asset disposals

• private equity transactions

• management buyouts

• EIS and SEIS investment

• carbon credits

I also advise, structure and assist with the implementation of share incentive arrangements for staff and senior management including EMI, CSOP, LTIPs, growth shares and employee ownership trusts.
