Career
Yehia Shahine joined ALC - Alieldean Weshahi & Partners in June 2020 bringing aboard more than 15 years of experience in the dispute resolution practice with top tier local and international law firms in Egypt and France. Yehia currently holds a title of Partner and head of arbitration and competition practices.
Yehia’s practice focuses on arbitration in civil and commercial complex disputes. He regularly acts as counsel in large number of ad-hoc and institutional arbitration proceedings conducted under the arbitration rules of the ICC, CRCICA, DIAC, LCIA, CAS and UNCITRAL in multidiscipline industries including sports, telecom, construction, agro-food, oil & gas to name a few. He has also acted as counsel in investment arbitration proceedings conducted under the ICSID Rules and in the settlement thereof. His practice also spans to cover the successful enforcement and annulment of domestic and international arbitration awards.
Besides his primary focus on arbitration, Yehia’s practice also encompasses handling complex high-profile litigation cases related to telecommunications, commercial agencies, distribution agreements, labour and competition matters. He has also gained wealth of experience in Competition Law by working as case handler and member of the advocacy team (working on the then amendments to the Competition Law) at the Egyptian Competition Authority and by successfully representing many clients before the Egyptian Competition Authority & the Egyptian Courts in settlement and legal proceedings. This is in addition to advising Clients and carrying out training programmes on Competition Law.

He currently serves as the country reporter from Egypt for the New York Convention 1958 (www.newyorkconvention1958.com), and used to be a member of the Global Advisory Board (GAB) of the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR) Young & International Group, a member of the AYA Editorial Team, a member of the IBA Arb40’s Steering Committee and as member of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Arab Arbitration Group. He is also registered as an arbitrator in CRCICA and DIAC's list and regularly serves as arbitrator.
Education
Yehia read Law at both Cairo and Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne Universities. He holds a License de Droit from both universities along with DEUG, Maîtrise en Droit, Master’s in Business & Tax Law and second Master in Intranational and European Business Law all from Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne University.
