Amit Nag is a lawyer having over 22 years of experience in Litigation, Arbitration, Property Disputes, Family Disputes, Corporate Laws, Government Tenders and Banking Laws. He primarily appears before the Hon’ble High Court at Calcutta and various Tribunals and District Courts in the State of West Bengal. Amit has been advising and representing Oil Marketing Companies for several years and various other Public Sector Undertakings.

WORK EXPERIENCE

LITIGATION & ARBITRATION

Represents Oil Marketing Companies since 2007 in high-value and complex disputes relating to the oil and petroleum sector and has successfully defended Indian Oil Corporation Limited in significant litigation and arbitration proceedings. Regularly advises and represents Public Sector Undertakings at both State and Union levels in complex commercial, regulatory, and contractual disputes. Represented a Korean business entity in an admiralty dispute against the Vietnamese Government and successfully recovered claims exceeding INR 20 crores through proceedings before the Hon’ble High Court at Calcutta. Represented a leading manufacturer of defence surveillance equipment in a challenge to a ban imposed by the Ministry of Defence, which was quashed by the Hon’ble High Court at Calcutta. Successfully pursued long-standing litigation before the Hon’ble High Court at Calcutta and the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, resulting in refund of excess prices charged by Eastern Coalfields Limited from various hard coke consumers.

LABOUR & EMPLOYMENT

Advises Public Sector Undertakings at both State and Union levels, as well as entities in the hospitality sector, on labour and employment disputes, including representation before courts, tribunals, and other statutory authorities.

POLICY & GOVERNMENT ADVISORY

Advised Haldia Development Authority on key policy decisions relating to allotment of public land to private entities for establishment of new industries in Paschim Medinipur district, West Bengal, and represented the Authority in related litigation and arbitration proceedings.

FINANCIAL RECOVERY & ENFORCEMENT (SARFAESI)

Advised and represented one of the largest non-banking finance companies in achieving record-breaking recovery of debts in the eastern region through SARFAESI proceedings and arbitration.
