Tanya Sumana Das has over 13 years of experience in Real Estate, Infrastructure and Estate Planning. She advises Indian and multinational corporates on complex, high-value mandates spanning diverse sectors primarily on deal structuring, joint ventures, land monetization strategies, transaction documentation, title diligence and risk analysis. She also renders policy advisory to Government departments and parastatals and is involved in comprehensive management of tender processes for large public projects. In addition, Tanya regularly advises high net worth individuals and business families on estate planning and succession frameworks. Prior to joining AQUILAW, Tanya worked as in-house legal counsel with corporates. She is a gold medallist from Symbiosis Law School, Pune, where she completed her B.A. LL.B.

WORK EXPERIENCE

REAL ESTATE

Advised a broad portfolio of developers, logistics operators, investors and manufacturing companies in the full lifecycle of real estate assets, from structuring and acquisition to development, monetization and divestment, including documentation, diligence, risk analysis and mitigation and ancillary legal advisory.

INFRASTRUCTURE

Advised Government organizations and authorities regarding various infrastructure projects, including development of ports and supply of essential commodities, and provided end to end legal support in relation to tender process management, contract structuring and regulatory compliance.

POLICY

Advised and assisted Government departments and parastatals for policy formulation with respect to acquisition, development and leasing of industrial and commercial land and contributed to regulatory framework development to support implementation of public initiatives.

ESTATE/SUCCESSION PLANNING

Advised high net worth individuals and families on wills, private family trusts and other estate planning instruments and structured tax-efficient succession frameworks aligned with family governance objectives.

GENERAL CORPORATE ADVISORY

Advised on commercial and corporate laws, foreign direct investment and documentation such as business transfer agreements, joint venture agreements, share purchase/ subscription agreements, shareholders’ agreement and data subcontracting agreements.
