Sucharita Basu is a lawyer having over 24 years of experience. She is the Founding & Managing Partner of AQUILAW, a full-service law firm having offices at Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi and Bhubaneshwar. Sucharita practices Corporate - Commercial, Infrastructure, Real Estate, Trust & Estate Laws. She advises a wide range of Indian & multinational clients in various sectors. Sucharita also has expertise in Government Advisory and Policy. Sucharita Basu is the past Chairperson of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), West Bengal State Council for 2023-24. She also represents AQUILAW in the CII National Council and CII Eastern Region Council. Sucharita Basu is the past Chairperson of CII – Indian Women Network, West Bengal. She has been recognised by Chambers & Partners as an Asia Pacific Top Ranked Lawyer (2026) for Corporate/Commercial. She was also ranked in the Chambers & Partners Asia Pacific Guide (2025). Due diligence, transactions involving listed and unlisted companies, advice and documentation - joint ventures, shareholder agreements and arrangements, technology transfers, import of plant and equipment.

COMMERCIAL CONTRACTS & DATA PRIVACY

Licensing, transfer of technology, trade agreements, etc, and general corporate law advisory; advisory on data privacy and governance.

REAL ESTATE

Structuring of deals, legal due diligence of property, drafting/vetting transaction documents such as conveyance deeds, leases, license agreements, development agreements, trust deeds, trust laws etc, rendering advice on land laws and land development, advisory on financing & investments, RERA.

INFRASTRUCTURE

Advice and documentation of infrastructure projects on PPP mode, legal structuring, contracts, laws & policies on behalf of government, transaction advisor and project proponent.

POLICY

Policy advisory for government, government parastatals and corporates, holistic policy making upon identification of policy intervention areas, appreciating evidence, deliberating with all relevant stakeholders and drafting/finalizing policy upon appreciating the strategic area of policy implementation.

Advice and documentation relating to corporate financing, debt issues, project financing, creation of security etc. and external commercial borrowings.

Advice and documentation relating to IPOs, Rights Issues, QIPs, NCDs, GDR and FCCB issues.
