Career

A lawyer for nearly 40 years, Jean-Marc Fédida has established himself as a leading figure in criminal defense in France.

He has handled numerous high-profile financial cases—including those involving tax fraud, money laundering, and organized fraud (such as the HSBC/“Falciani” affair, the defense of a former minister in the “ill-gotten gains” case, and the carbon tax fraud trial)—as well as major political-financial cases (including the Paris City Hall, Clearstream, Schuller-Marechal, Oil-for-Food, and Rybolovlev affairs, and the Carpentras Jewish cemetery case).

Jean-Marc Fédida regularly provides counsel and defense for listed companies and major national and international groups—particularly in the aviation, environmental, and healthcare sectors—as well as for French and foreign banks and their executives, investment funds, and major media organizations. He advises these clients on criminal risk management in their day-to-day business operations and during expansion projects.

He also assists companies in implementing internal procedures to ensure compliance with anti-money laundering and anti-corruption directives and regulations, as well as the Sapin II law, while also helping to prevent criminal liability risks in industrial and health-related matters.

Finally, his practice encompasses protecting his clients' reputations through press and internet law.

Jean-Marc Fédida teaches in the Master’s program at the Sciences Po Paris Law School and serves as a lecturer on professional ethics and criminal procedure at the Paris Bar Training School (EFB).

He is the author of various books and articles on tax fraud, criminal policy regarding financial and environmental matters, and the criminal liability of corporate executives. Educated at the University of Paris 2 Sorbonne-Assas, the Institute of Comparative Law, and Boalt Hall (UC Berkeley), Jean-Marc Fédida is fluent in English and Hebrew.
