Position
Litigation Executive at Witan Solicitors specialising in civil and commercial litigation and matters before the Business and Property Courts (BPC), with a particular interest in construction disputes (including matters arising under JCT contracts) and property litigation. Preetam has experience in litigation drafting, alternative dispute resolution and advocacy, with a strong working knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules. He adopts a client-first approach, supporting individuals and businesses through the complexities of litigation while prioritising clear communication and empathy.
Career
Preetam joined Witan Solicitors in January 2026 as a Litigation Executive, having developed a strong foundation in litigation drafting, the application of the Civil Procedure Rules and advocacy through his studies on the Bar Practice Course (LLM with Pro Bono Masters) at The University of Law, Birmingham. During his BPC studies he was awarded the Senior Advocacy Scholarship 2025/26 and was a finalist in the Sir Mota Singh Moot held at the UK Supreme Court, where he progressed to the final two from a field of fourteen competing teams.
Preetam has further developed his litigation and advocacy experience through extensive judicial marshalling at the Upper Tribunal (Immigration and Asylum Chamber), the First-tier Tribunal at Taylor House and the Employment Tribunal, and has completed mini-pupillages at 4PB, 36 Group and 5 St Andrew's Hill. He has also completed the Red Lion Chambers and East London Business Alliance Mentoring Programme, receiving bespoke mentoring from leading criminal barristers, and undertook a pro bono placement with Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner at the Sonali Gardens Legal Advice Centre. During his Master's studies, he used the CourtNav injunction system to assist clients with non-molestation orders and PIP appeals, and volunteered with the FLOWS triage phone line, supporting victims of domestic abuse.
Beyond litigation, Preetam has been instructed on the redrafting of a charitable organisation's constitution and by-laws, and was invited to speak at the University of Oxford's Global Perspective Conference on the design and development of constitutions for Sikh institutions in the twenty-first century.
