Karin Kern is a partner in the M&A practice at Mello Torres Advogados. She is a well-regarded figure in the corporate world, having spent over 20 years in technical and leadership roles across various areas of the legal department at Vale S.A. During this time, she led numerous complex transactions involving the company and its affiliates, both in Brazil and abroad, including matters related to crisis management.

Karin has recognized experience in negotiating and structuring complex commercial transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance matters. She has also been actively involved in negotiating supply agreements, third-sector contracts, partnerships, and compliance frameworks.

As part of her international background, she worked as a visiting attorney at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton LLP in New York.

English and Portuguese

Member of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB).

Law degree from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). She has also completed executive education programs at NYU Law School, Harvard University, and London Business School.
