“A boutique firm with deep expertise”, Serrano Martinez is valued by sources for its ‘experience in serving foreign companies’ – notably, recent clients include Uber Technologies and Amazon. Increasingly prominent department head Felipe Serrano is highlighted as a ’fundamental ally when it comes to defining business strategies’ and specialises in advising on antitrust, privacy and consumer protection investigations, as well as competition litigation. Serrano can also call on several talented associates including ‘very intelligent lawyer’ Andrés Jaramillo Sanz, who previously served at the SIC, Juan Felipe Traber and new arrival Ana María Mesa, who joined from Avante Abogados in 2021.”
Global Competition Review - GCR 100
“SERRANO MARTINEZ is led by founding partner Felipe Serrano, a former chief antitrust adviser and deputy head of the SIC who was recently appointed as president of the Colombian Competition Law Association. The seven-associate team, which includes ex-enforcers Andrés Jaramillo and Juan Diego Mojica Restrepo, was among the top filers of merger notifications before the Colombian competition authority in 2021. Those numbers aside, the firm is tapped on some major deals, including helping Glencore win approval from the SIC for its acquisition of the Cerrejón joint venture. The firm also continues to represent Uber Technologies in a lawsuit filed by taxi company Cotech alleging acts of unfair competition, which is now on appeal before the Colombian Supreme Court of Justice. Amazon is another high-profile technology client enlisting Serrano Martinez as general competition counsel.”
