Partner,  Projects and Major Transactions.  Basel specializes in cross-border mergers and acquisitions, equity capital markets, joint ventures, private equity, corporate restructurings, project finance and government procurement. He regularly advises sovereign wealth funds, multinational corporations, financial institutions and regional conglomerates on complex, multi-jurisdictional transactions across the Middle East and North Africa, with particular depth in Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the wider GCC.

Basel trained at Ali Sharif Zu'bi Advocates & Legal Consultants as a corporate M&A associate in 2014. He then joined Clifford Chance LLP in Riyadh (2016- 2020), where he spent four years as a Senior Associate in the Corporate and Equity Capital Markets practice advising the sovereign wealth funds, leading investment banks and major corporates on landmark transactions. He subsequently joined Eversheds Sutherland (International) LLP as a Senior Associate (2020-2021).  Basel returned to Ali Sharif Zu'bi in 2022 and was made Partner in the Projects and Major Transactions practice in 2025.

Basel's practice spans the full lifecycle of complex corporate transactions. In Jordan, his representative experience includes advising Capital Bank Group on their USD 185 million subscription agreement with the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia; Brookfield Corporation on its USD 2.76 billion acquisition of Network International Holdings; Airport International Group on the rehabilitation, expansion and operation of Queen Alia International Airport; Jahez on its USD 172.9 million acquisition of Chefz; Al Youm bakery on the proposed USD 43 million investment by the Saudi Jordanian Investment Company; a China state-owned enterprise on the acquisition of five solar PV stations; a global leading pharmaceutical company on its USD 200 million facility with the International Finance Corporation; a leading insurance company on the acquisition of a majority shareholding in another insurance company, both listed on the Amman Stock Exchange; and Al-Arabi Investment Group on multiple strategic acquisitions. Prior to returning to Jordan, Basel spent several years in Riyadh advising on landmark transactions, including acting for the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia on the acquisition of globally renowned hotel portfolios across the Kingdom and on remobilising the King Abdullah Financial District; Saudi Entertainment Ventures and AMC Cinema on establishing the first cinema chain in Saudi Arabia; Nestlé S.A. on restructuring its regional shareholdings; the Saudi Ministry of Defence on major armament procurement contracts; and HSBC Capital, Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan and Samba Capital on equity capital markets transactions including the first Rule 144A IPO in Saudi Arabia, the first two REIT funds in the Kingdom, and the largest rights issue in Saudi capital markets history.
