Partner and Head of Private Client Team

Nicki joined Machins in 2008 and became a partner in November 2020. She is Head of the Private Client Team, responsible for managing the team and overseeing its continued excellence. With a wealth of experience working with a wide range of clients and circumstances, Nicki specialises in all aspects of non-contested private client work.

She is known for her compassionate and thoughtful approach, ensuring clients feel at ease, supported, and expertly guided through often legally complex scenarios. Nicki is based at both Machins’ offices in Luton and Berkhamsted and offers clients complete flexibility by providing services remotely.

Recent matters Nicki has worked on include:

Applications to the Court of Protection for the removal and appointment of trustees Deputyship applications for incapacitated patients and acting as deputy where required Drafting and advising on statutory wills Reviewing and updating wills, including inheritance tax planning Securing grants of probate and administering estates, from straightforward cases to complex, multi-property and multi-jurisdictional matters Preparing and registering lasting powers of attorney (LPAs) with appropriate safeguards in light of recent case law Advising on and drafting trust deeds Assisting with charity formation
