Head of Commercial Property

Derek is a Partner and Head of our Commercial Property Team.

Derek advises on a wide range of property transactions including acquisitions, disposals, development, commercial leasing and investment deals. His client base includes developers, lenders, corporate occupiers, retailers, investors and charities and is engaged in sectors as diverse as office investments, serviced apartments, logistics and warehousing, development land and children's nurseries.

His clients include EG Group, Steer Automotive, Brake Bros, RNIB, Well Pharmacies and RRH.

He is well respected within the Scottish property sector and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to every transaction.

Highlights

Derek leads the firm’s relationship with Scottish Action for Mental Health.

He represented a private trust in a significant investment deal. This private family trust was a new client win for Lindsays and it acquired, for around £14m, a retail warehouse investment (held on a long lease) in Edinburgh let to Tesco Stores Limited.

Derek has acted for RRH in several acquisitions of prime Edinburgh assets.

He acted in the investment sale at a multi-let office investment in central Glasgow. The deal successfully completed in a two week period from start to finish.

Derek is recognised by Chambers and Partners: A Client's Guide to UK Solicitors 2024 as a notable practitioner.
