Position

Helen is a Partner and heads up our Charities and Third Sector team in Edinburgh.

Ranked in Chambers UK Legal Guide and accredited as a specialist in charity law by Law Society of Scotland, Helen has spent over ten years specialising in charity and third sector legal issues.

Helen’s experience includes setting up, merging, winding up charities; advising on governance, charity tax, and trading activities; advising grant giving charities; trustee training and dealing with a wide range of regulatory matters such as OSCR, HMRC, the Care Inspectorate and the Financial Conduct Authority related issues.  In addition to fundraising, donations, trusts and endowments, using her private client experience, Helen advises on lifetime philanthropy and legacies/bequests.

As well as advising charities Helen has also been a trustee herself, with experience on the board of a national community-based youth work organisation and also as a governor of an independent school.
