Ray is a Civil Solicitor Advocate, calling in 2007. His principal areas of practice are:

Ray has a broad range of experience in both civil and criminal matters with particular expertise in regulatory and compliance issues including Health and Safety and Corporate Crime.

He has acted for multinational blue chip organisations, private high net worth individuals, Sporting Estates, Directors and Managers in regulatory investigations, Health and Safety prosecutions, Fatal Accident Inquiries and Public Inquiries. Additionally, he has guided corporate clients through their compliance obligations on money laundering, anti-bribery and corruption, fraud and modern slavery and provided interactive training to instil corporate compliance culture and awareness at all levels. He has advised on the terms of regulatory policies, procedures and protocols for clients and those they deal with and assisted with corporate due diligence and audit.

Ray’s practice also encompasses a wide range of civil litigation both at court and by way of Alternate Dispute resolution (ADR) such as through Arbitration or Mediation. His advice is regularly sought on a wide range of complex commercial, property and personal injury disputes before the Court of Session and Sheriff Courts.

He is recognised for his pragmatic and user-friendly approach to complex issues as well as his attention to detail.
