Position

Ian advises firms and senior individuals facing regulatory investigations and enforcement action, with a focus on the financial services, accountancy and audit sectors.

He has advised major accountancy and law firms, professional service organisations, as well as senior individuals in investigations and enforcement proceedings involving financial misconduct, ethical breaches, and workplace culture, often brought by the FRC, ICAEW, SRA, ACCA and CAI. He regularly advises on anti-money laundering compliance and the Money Laundering Regulations 2017.

Ian also assists firms in these sectors to manage complex regulatory risks. This includes conducting internal investigations, advising on compliance with ethical standards, and navigating issues such as the use of artificial intelligence in audit and accountancy services. He has advised both the buy and sell sides in transactions involving private equity investment in accountancy and professional services firms in the UK, as well as other offshore and international jurisdictions.

In addition to his investigations practice, Ian has experience advising public figures, institutions, and individuals involved as core participants or witnesses in major public inquiries, inquests and reviews.
