Ms. Leyla Kocman joined AKT Law Firm in 2021 as Associate and was promoted to Senior Associate in 2025.

Career

Leyla Koçman graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Law in 2017 and completed her Master's degree in Economic Law at Istanbul Bilgi University in 2025. Her graduation project focused on the arrest of ships.

She began her legal career as a trainee lawyer at a local law firm in Istanbul, where she gained valuable litigation experience in commercial law, enforcement law, and bankruptcy law. During her time there, she provided legal consultancy services to some of Türkiye’s leading banks. After three years, aiming to broaden her expertise, she joined AKT Law Firm in 2021, marking a new phase in her career.

At AKT Law Firm, Leyla specializes in all aspects of commercial disputes. Her primary clients include companies engaged in international trade and shipbuilding. Her practice encompasses international arbitration, enforcement and bankruptcy. She provides both consultancy and litigation services in these fields.

Leyla has played an active role in the legal procedures related to the establishment of Türkiye’s largest polypropylene production facility, making significant contributions to the legal transactions of the project. She has also represented one of Türkiye’s leading chemical manufacturers in an ICC arbitration seated in Switzerland and a Turkish shipyard in arbitration proceedings held in London under LMAA rules.

In 2025, Leyla was promoted to Senior Associate, and she continues to lead and contribute to complex commercial and cross-border dispute matters at AKT Law Firm.

Leyla is also the author of an article that addresses significant amendments to Türkiye’s Enforcement and Bankruptcy Law, offering detailed analysis and practical insights.
