Career
I’m a partner in our South Yorkshire and East Midlands serious injury teams. Throughout my career, I’ve recovered more than £150 million in compensation for clients, including individual resolutions valued at up to £18 million. I’ve specialised in neuro-trauma since 2011 when I joined the team, which I now lead with three other partners.
For more than 15 years, I have dedicated my career to helping people and families affected by life-changing injuries secure the rehabilitation, support, and compensation they need to rebuild their lives.
I specialise in complex and high-value serious injury claims caused by road traffic collisions, workplace accidents, and other catastrophic incidents. I have particular expertise in cases involving:
-
Traumatic brain injuries
-
Spinal cord injuries
-
Amputation
-
Polytrauma
-
Serious orthopaedic injuries
-
Fatal accidents.
Much of my work involves helping clients and families secure early rehabilitation and long-term support following life-changing injuries. This regularly includes:
-
Establishing professional care and case management packages
-
Securing specialist therapies
-
Sourcing and funding suitable accommodation
-
Arranging major adaptations
-
Navigating complexities around capacity issues.
Serious injury litigation is about far more than compensation alone. The consequences of a life-changing injury can affect every aspect of a person's future, including their health, independence, employment, finances, living arrangements, and family relationships. My role is to help clients navigate those challenges while securing access to the rehabilitation, care, treatment and financial support they need.
I take pride in providing practical, straightforward advice at what is often one of the most challenging periods of a family's life. My aim is to reduce uncertainty, provide reassurance and help people move forward with confidence.
Alongside my client work, I’ve written for industry publications and spoken at conferences, training events, and professional forums on serious injury law and developments affecting those who’ve suffered catastrophic injuries.
I have previously been the Co-ordinator for the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers’ (APIL) Brain Injury Special Interest Group. I led the group over the pandemic which included materially changing what we offered. I’m also recognised by APIL as an accredited Brain Injury specialist and a Fellow. I’m entrusted by APIL to assess those aspiring to be accredited as Brain Injury specialists and have also delivered training for APIL.
As a Solicitor-Advocate, I was proud to be part of the team that established Irwin Mitchell's in-house advocacy service, helping to provide a more comprehensive and seamless service for clients and their families.
Throughout my career, I have been involved in a wide range of complex serious injury claims.
I have also contributed to a number of reported cases, including:
-
Clements-Siddall v Dunbobbin Hotels Ltd [2023] EWCA Civ 1300, where I supervised the case and contributed to the legal arguments considered by the Court of Appeal
-
Revill v Damiani [2017] EWHC 2630 (QB), a case involving an insurer's attempt to withdraw from a settlement agreement
-
Ayres v Odedra [2013] EWHC 40 (QB), a High Court liability dispute arising from a serious injury claim.
