Career
Ahmed is an Of Counsel in Matouk Bassiouny & Hennawy’s Finance & Projects practice group. He began his legal career in Corporate and M&A before transitioning to Finance & Projects, with a focus on the financing and acquisition of energy assets. Ahmed maintains strong working relationships with key oil and gas operators in Egypt as well as with the relevant Egyptian regulatory authorities. He played a significant role in the majority of oil and gas concession transfers and assignments in Egypt during 2018–2019. In addition, he has substantial experience advising on mining projects in the Republic of Sudan.
In addition to his focus on energy and projects, Ahmed has broad experience in mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, and real estate finance. He regularly advises multinational and regional investors on a wide range of legal matters, including corporate restructuring, tax, general corporate and commercial law, electronic payments, and mobile wallet regulations. His capital markets experience includes advising on IPOs, private placements, rights issues, securitizations, demergers, and other capital markets transactions, including employee stock option plans, bond offerings, and Sukuk issuances. Ahmed is also well-versed in drafting a variety of transactional and commercial agreements, such as memoranda of understanding, shareholders’ agreements, escrow agreements, sale and lease contracts, employment agreements, and other key commercial documentation.
