Position
Akilah McEwen is a Partner at Amphlett Lissimore and Head of the Private Client department. She specialises in Wills, Trusts, Probate, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Deputyship and lifetime estate planning.
Akilah advises clients on all aspects of wills and probate and has a particular interest in the law of trusts. As a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), she has completed additional specialist training in inheritance and succession planning.
She offers a holistic and highly personalised approach to client care. Her client base is extremely varied, ranging from high‑net‑worth individuals to elderly clients, including those in the early stages of a dementia diagnosis. She regularly assists families with succession and estate planning, advising on how best to pass assets to the next generation.
Career
Akilah joined Amphlett Lissimore in 2013 as a legal assistant. She trained with the firm and qualified as a solicitor in 2016, becoming Head of the Private Client department in 2019. She is also a trained Dementia Friend, having undertaken specialist training to ensure she can provide appropriate and sensitive support to clients living with dementia.
Akilah became a Partner at Amphlett Lissimore in 2020.
Memberships
Passionate about the legal profession, Akilah is an active member of its wider community. She is a longstanding member of the South London Law Society and supports initiatives that bring together lawyers from large, small, and in‑house practices to encourage collaboration and the sharing of ideas in the interests of justice. In 2022, she was nominated as the Law Society’s Council Member for South London and, in this role, seeks to help shape and agree the strategic direction of the Law Society’s work.
