Stan Tîrnoveanu is a Senior Partner and co-founder of the law firm Zamfirescu Racoți Vasile & Partners and First Vice President of UNPIR – Romania. He coordinates the firm’s Restructuring & Insolvency practice, as well as its banking litigation practice, being one of the most highly regarded lawyers in Romania in the field of liquidation and reorganization in the banking system.

Stan Tîrnoveanu has over 40 years of experience as a lawyer and more than 25 years as an insolvency practitioner, representing clients in company restructuring, debt recovery, insolvency, and bankruptcy matters.

Tîrnoveanu was involved in the legislative process for Law 85/2006 on insolvency and Law 85/2014 on preventive insolvency and insolvency proceedings, as a member of the team of consultants to the Legal Committee of the Chamber of Deputies that worked on the new law. He was also part of the team of consultants who contributed to the transposition of Directive 1023/2019 on preventive restructuring frameworks through Law 216/2022. He is co-author of two chapters in the Practical Insolvency Treaty and has published a significant number of articles in specialist publications on banking law and insolvency.

His banking practice covers a wide range of financial and tax litigation, commercial financing facilities, security systems and credit guarantee issuances, and privatizations.

Stan Tîrnoveanu is the founder and was a member of the managing committee of the European Association of Banking and Financial Law Specialists.
