Career
Alexander completed a law degree at the University of Sheffield. After also completing his LPC, Alexander, joined Hill Dickinson LLP as a paralegal and then went on to do his training contract.
Alexander qualified into the Shipping Team in London, in 2011.
Since qualifying Alexander has worked on a variety of shipping related issues, including casualties, charterparty disputes, bill of lading and contract of carriage disputes.
Alexander made Partner at Hill Dickinson in 2020.
Alexander has good industry knowledge and expertise in a wide range of shipping matters. He acts for clients in relation to disputes involving charterparties, bills of lading, marine casualties, salvage and marine insurance.
Alexander has significant expertise in issues relating to the carriage of liquid cargoes and also bunker quality disputes.
Alexander advises on a variety of incident-based disputes, including collisions, fires and container stow collapses. He also works closely with the team’s Master mariners on many of the team’s major casualty matters.
Alexander acts for a variety of commercial clients in the marine sector including shipowners/operators, charterers, commodity traders, P&I clubs and marine insurers.
Alexander also works closely with the Yacht team and handles many Superyacht disputes, including those relating to construction, sale and purchase, charterparties and commissions.

Personal
Outside of work, Alexander is actively involved in outdoor pursuits, many of which he undertakes for charitable causes. These have included the Coast to Coast Cycle race and the Water Aid 6 peaks challenge (which he has completed twice).
